This is a fun song for which I imagined a
cheeky, maybe slightly Cockney voice
like Lilly Allen singing it.
It's my voice again, not a song for
a male voice, but someone's got
to sing it first. I'm really hoping
a great female voclalist will
like it and want to make it her own.
Lyrics
Dear John,
You had it all
What a fool
Now today it’s all gone.
Dear John,
Could have been good
But you misunderstood
And now the loving’s all wrong!
Dear John,
Another dawn comes
And you’re still not home.
A long time ago I gave up on the phone.
Wondering what’s happening,
When did all the lies begin?
I don’t want to be alone.
Dear John,
You said you’d be home
In the afternoon,
Now it’s after midnight
What am I to presume?
Wanna trust you
Wanna love you
But I’m all confused about you
I don’t want to be alone
Every car that passes
Makes me pray that it’s you.
And you’ll be coming home
And we’ll know what to do.
Afternoon gives way to night
I just hope that you’re alright!
I don’t want to be alone
