“What Love Becomes?” was meant for a boy band, a bit “do-wap” but it came out like this. Very pop, I indulgded writing and performing the string section, but I hope it’s not too over the top or too “musical”.
Although the subject is quite sad I tried to balance it with a ‘jaunty’ pace, not taking things too seriously! I added a slight Shania Twain here and there with some of the guitars.
Like all of my songs, it’s a diary recording of a very personal time in my life. The lyrics are what I needed to say at the time, but now I cherish the times that challenge our lives, they make us human! The middle reveals the singer as a true individual with strong ideals, wanting the best for everyone, but realsies he / she needs to look after themselves now. A wide vocal range is needed for this song, I didn’t make it easy for myself to demo, but I had a go!
Lyrics
There's a look of sadness in your eyes
Right where the magic used to be.
Our seasons changed,
Like the wind,
All our clouds re-appeared.
Tell me where do we go from here?
'Cos I don't want to live without you,
But we can't undo what has been done.
I don't want to live without love,
But is this what love becomes?
All the dreams and passion we once shared
Are now the memories of my heart.
What happened to
The love I knew?
When did it all fade away?
How can we carry on this way?
Soon my sun will shine
And all the cold, dark days will end.
You can always count on me,
I will always be your friend.
I'll be there whenever you need me,
Call my name,
And I know that you feel the same.
