Collaboration with Lonnie Gordon
August 2009

While I was messing around with my latest track which I'd put on hold, Lonnie came into my room and just started singing along with it. We went for lunch at Bar One in Streatham Hill and talked about what and who the song should be about, and "Fly Girl" just suddenly appeared! Three days later I heard the words we'd talked about fall into place and Lonnie's vocals were recorded straight away.

Then, two days later Lonnie sang the Vocals for "Open", which we recorded within an hour! This song began with me becoming unemployed and finding time to sit in the Rookery, some beautiful flower gardens on Streatham Common. I found a bench which I came to call "The Listening Bench", because I suddenly found myself with time to listen.

It was the sound of the gentle breeze through the silver birches that done it, such a distinctive sound. I kind of found myself again on the listening bench and remembered how to just take pleasure from being in the moment.

A couple of weeks later Lonnie moved in to our house, and we just clicked straight away. We had such deep, beautiful and inspired conversations in the kitchen, and one sunny day I took her to the Listening Bench, and we had a very special conversation.

This song is that conversation.

Here's an article from Heaton's website www.heatonmusic.com

"Heaton has recently teamed up with London based writer and producer Nick Rumbelow. The pair met over at MP3unsigned.com and have already recorded 2 new tracks together called Back 2 Love and 2 Minus 1. The collaboration has gone that well that Nick and Heaton have decided to write more tracks for the forthcoming Heaton album. "I was blown away by Nick's ideas and musically we just seem to click". The feedback on the new tracks has been amazing and there is a real buzz surrounding Heaton's new record. The new album is still very much a pop affair, but will be playing to Heaton's strengths as a vocalist and songwriter.

The pair have not ruled out re-working some of Heaton's earlier work either, "We have a few tracks in mind both from my own collection and some of Nick's that we think could be given a new lease of life". There is still no date for the new album, as the pair just want to record as much as possible over the next few months and then be in a position to select only the best for the new record."

... looking for vocalists

Me on MySpace

Hello,

I call my collection of demos "DYNAMIC" because the project is always adapting according to the feedback, helping me towards the best delivery of my ideas.

I really enjoyed writing these songs on a VERY low budget at home with only headphones and a small keyboard, but have no delusions about being any kind of performer, so if you would like to use them or are interested in collaborations please get in touch.

These songs are available for publishing.

It would be great to find singers to perform the vocals, but in the meaintime I've done my best to sing some of them myself to at least just demonstrate the songs. Someone's got to sing them first ...

My influences include Basement Jaxx, Beverley Knight, Bill Withers, Calvin Harris, Chris Lake, Chris Lake , Corinne Bailey Rae, Dark Child, DeepDish, ELO, Everything But The Girl, Freemasons, Joss Stone, Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen, Madison Avenue, Madonna, Mark Ronson, Massive Attack, Moloko, Nina Simone, Portishead, Robbie Williams, Shapeshifters, Stevie Wonder, SWV, The Isley Brothers, Toni Braxton, Will Young, Zhane and more.

I'm hoping my songs give vocalists something to connect easily with and make their own, and give the artist something to say.

I hope you enjoy them.
